Break the Stigma!

It is estimated that more than half of the people experiencing difficulties with their mental health do not seek professional help because of social stigma.
Mental health stigma consists of stereotypes, negative beliefs that are often oversimplified, distorted, and offensive, which become collectively accepted and lead to generalizations about individuals and groups. Society, colleagues, friends, family members, and even our own inner voice may convince us that if we seek help from a mental health professional, we are “weak” or “crazy.”
Someone struggling with depression may be stereotypically labeled as “lazy,” and someone with anxiety as “cowardly.” Yet none of these labels reflect reality. These misconceptions stem from misinformation, cause pain, and can delay or even discourage someone from seeking help, depriving them of the opportunity to overcome difficulties, relieve their symptoms, and live a better life.
